I made several trips to this beautiful country. The underwater biodiversity is incredible there! Each island has its own strange species and critters... |

Maratua IslandThis journey took place in October 2007. 2 great weeks at the Maratua Paradise Resort: we saw there lots of beautiful things from tiny to huge one! CommentsWhat I like the most at Maratua is that everyday we can discover new animals and new sights. From small macro things such as pygmy seahorses, shrimps, crabs, scorpionfishes or stonefishes to huge animals such as manta rays or sharks. The reefs are also beautiful with lots of coral gardens and big colourful sponges and sea fans... And last but not least, the jelly fish lake in Kakaban Island is astonishing! Sulawesi ArchipelagoThis journey took place in August 2006. 3 weeks between Bunaken, Togian islands and Lembeh straight. I could see wrecks, schools of barracudas and jackfishes, beautiful drop offs and muck dives... while eating delicious indonesian food and leaving with very nice people. Bunaken IslandCommentsI stays in Bunaken at the Froggies divers dive centre. It is an excellent club managed by the charismatic Christiane. She can speak 6 languages and she and her staff will do all their best to make you enjoy your stay. We use small boats to go diving; each boat can afford 8 divers and 2 guides. We can see there beautiful drop-off with lots of small things (nudibranch, pygmy seahorses...) and also some big things too (turtles, eagle rays...) Togian IslandsCommentsThe cruise happens on the boat of the Wallacea dive cruise of Jérôme Doucet. This is a very nice trip indeed. Beautiful dives (B25 wreck, drop off with lots of fishes : schools of barracudas and jackfishes and also small nudibranches...) with very good visibility. We have also some wonderful views on isolated islands... LembehCommentsLembeh is one of my best souvenir of all my dives. I stays at the Divers Lodge Lembeh. It was really amazing. The dive were incredible and the staff of the Lodge was so nice! Rob, I really had to come back next year ! :-) PicturesAll the pictures proposed in this section are made by a Canon EOS 20D digital SLR camera. Bali & KomodoThis journey took place in september 2005. 3 weeks of fun between the islands of Bali and Komodo. I could see there mantas, pygmy seahorses and all the little things that we can see during the muck dives. Komodo IslandCommentsThe cruise was made in the Komodo Dancer. Peter Hugues is well known to propose high level quality trip. But I was a bit deceived by it. Nothing to say about the boat : it is a very nice looking boat made in wood. Large cabins, place for all the camera and video equipment, excellent food, kind guides and people. The dives there can be astonishing but also so boring... Some dive site are full of surprises, with lots of colours and forms, and other one are without any fishes, and with all the coral destroyed by dynamite fishing. Bali is a superb island, and we surf from the light-green of the rice plantations to the deep blue of the ocean, passing by the red and black of the volcanoes. People are there very kind and sweet. They can lead you from a rice plantation to the deep jungle in less than 5min. It is very sad that some terrorist attacks put a dark veil on this island. But all these attacks took place in Kuta which is a "ghetto" in the south-east of the island. There is really no need to go there to see surfer and night clubs... My regret is that I could only stay 4 nights there before my cruise. I remember the day when I woke up at 4am to go with a fisherman on its sampans. I saw the coast in the morning mist and we catch some small tunas... PicturesAll the pictures proposed in this section are made by a Canon EOS 20D digital SLR camera. Management
